Methodology

This study uses a mixed-methods approach, combining home accessibility audits, participant interviews, and demographic surveys to assess person-environment fit and understand lived experiences of individuals with mobility disabilities.

1. Co-develop a Methodology for Assessing Person-Environment Fit

Collaboratively design a framework linking daily living needs with spatial features to evaluate accessibility in homes and neighborhoods.

2. Conduct Interviews and Environmental Audits as Input for Tool Design

Gather rich, real-world data through in-home interviews and spatial audits to inform and shape the accessibility assessment tool.

3. Synthesize Data to Develop and Propose the Tool

Integrate interview insights and environmental measurements to draft a user-informed prototype evaluating person-environment accessibility fit.

4. Engage Stakeholders to Mobilize Knowledge and Refine Tool Design

Engage policymakers, researchers, and advocacy groups to refine the tool and ensure its real-world usability and policy relevance.
